To My Beautiful Child: Our Medications Arrived + Our First Ultrasound!

To My Beautiful Child,

Things are starting to get real! I feel so anxious and pray every day that the timing is right for you to join our family. This picture was taken on February 4th, the day we went in for more bloodwork and the SHG ultrasound before we start the actual IVF process. I cannot be more grateful for your dad's job that allows him to go to all of our doctor's appointments...such a blessing!!!

The SHG went really well and the nurse and ultrasound tech said that everything looked great up there. They told me that it looks like I have a great little nest. I thought that was a cute way of saying it. :) It's never comfortable having that kind of ultrasound, but your dad was right there holding my hand. Sometimes I think I squeeze it a little too hard while they are maneuvering and trying to find those little ovaries of mine. We then both your dad and I went in for some bloodwork afterward. They were testing our blood to make sure we weren't carriers for any genetic diseases. We actually haven't heard back about the results from that bloodwork, so I'm guessing no news is good news?!

The last thing that we needed to do was meet with the IVF coordinator to discuss financial responsibility. Holy cow...we weren't expecting it to cost that much. Thankfully our doctor is the best priced in the valley and his waiting list is so long because of it, but it is still a lot of $$$. We have decided to do PGS testing as well to make sure our fertilized eggs will be the best quality as possible to help reduce the chance of a miscarriage. Both your dad and I feel so good about it and we just know that the Lord will provide. He will provide the way, whether that be extra income or something else, and I trust wholeheartedly in that. In total for the IVF procedure, it costs $8,500 plus $2,100 in medication.

February 4, 2020

We were able to accomplish everything with the doctors before we left on our trip to visit the Hillebrant's in Barbados! It was perfect timing for us to leave and we came back feeling so rejuvenated (and tan!) and ready to tackle what's ahead. So grateful we were able to take advantage of the opportunity and just go!

Our medications arrived on Tuesday. I had them shipped to my parent's home because their address is more secure than our condo address. I went to pick it up after teaching piano and sure enough, a huge 5 pound box with my name was written on it. Booyah. Stimulations start on Sunday.

One of the greatest pieces of advice that I received was to have fun! Once you come, it will be harder for your dad and I to just go so we enjoy we are trying to take advantage of what we have now. I don't want to have any regrets about squandering our precious time with him away. I don't want to look back on my life and regret not cherishing each day and enjoying each phase of my life with your dad. So we travel, and we bought a drone, and we try to enjoy life while we are in the waiting phase.

We just can't wait to meet you. You are worth every penny and more!

Love,
Mom

Your dad is my best friend!
